A 62-year-old woman, identified as Karmjit Kaur
was allegedly murdered by unidentified persons in her house at Moga.
This is the second incident of murder of a woman in Moga district within 48 hours.
The police have taken the body into custody and kept it in the mortuary at the District Hospital where the post-mortem will be conducted by a panel of doctors.
According to the police, injury marks were visible on the woman’s head and hands so it is yet to be ascertained whether she was beaten to death or killed by sharp-edged weapons.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the
deceased’s husband Harpal Singh was living separately in another house
in the same locality. This was her second marriage which she solemnised
30 years ago.
Police thinks that a family
dispute could be the reason behind the murder keeping in view the facts
and circumstances of the incident.
A case is yet to be registered by the police regarding the same.
