Two persons held for theft in Chandigarh

Almost five days after a theft was reported from a flat at a housing society in Sector 48, the Chandigarh police arrested two persons regarding the case. Both accused have criminal past. While Sandeep is facing trial in 10 cases, Jitender is facing trial in two cases of burglary and dacoity. 


The theft incident was reported on the intervening night of November 6 and 7. It came to light in the morning after the neighbours saw the locks of main door broken. The house owner was out of the city. A case of theft was registered at the Sector 49 police station.

Inspector Ranjodh Singh, SHO of the Sector 49 police station, said the accused, identified as Sandeep, alias Kala (24), a resident of Karsan colony, Sector 52, and Jitender, a resident of Mauli Jagran, was arrested at a naka laid in Sector 48.

The accused were riding a scooter when they were nabbed. The police said an Activa scooter, three mobile phones and a laptop had been recovered from the accused.
