Photo exhibition 'NEWSCAPES-5' in memory of Late Shri Yog Joy concludes; Amarinder was chief guest

Chandigarh: Pictures speak a thousand words and to frame a picture correctly requires years of skills, practice and god-given talent. Adhering to this philosophy, the Chandigarh Press Club in association with Lion Service Ltd, organized the fifth edition a three-day photo exhibition, NEWSCAPES- 5, that concluded at the Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector 16 on Monday evening.

The event is an annual feature on the city’s calendar and is organised in the memory of eminent photojournalist, Late Yog Joy. This year, 55 photojournalists and four veterans of the city’s photography profession participated.

Addressing the concluding function on Monday, chief guest Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh lauded the initiative.

“Such initiatives also inspire me. Next time, I will also contribute my photos to the event,” the CM said, remembering late Yog Joy as a wonderful person and a marvelous photo journalist. Yog Joy’s son, Vikram Joy, was also present and was a vital part of the organizing team for the event.

The chief minister also announced Rs 10 lakh for the Chandigarh Press Club for promoting literary events and exhibition.

During then concluding ceremony, all participants were felicitated by the Press Club president Jaswant Rana and other members of the governing council of the Club.

“This has been a historic event and the participation was excellent. I thank all the sponsors. I congratulate my team and wish that we go even bigger with the event next time,” said Rana.

The other partners were the Paras Group, Manav Rachna School, GBP Group, Aryan Group of Colleges, Chandigarh University, Raddison Blu, MCM DAV College, Central Bank of India, Moksha Media, Capital Photo Studio. Veteran members of the journalistic fraternity, and Raveen Thukral, the media adviser to the Punjab CM were also present at the event.
