Jalandhar (Pb): Punjab Chief Minister
Amarinder Singh today said his government can take no action
against Akali leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia
unless there is any evidence against him in connection with an
alleged multi-crore drug racket.
The government would not spare Majithia or anyone else
proved to be guilty in drug trading in the state, Amarinder
said, according to a statement released by his office.
Majithia was in 2014 quizzed by ED in connection with
its probe into the alleged money laundering in a multi-crore
international drug racket case.
The chief minister said several agencies were involved in
the investigation of the alleged multi-crore drug racket case.
"I have instructed the Punjab DGP to help and assist these
agencies in the probe against Majithia, whenever sought," he
said.
At least 40 Congress MLAs have been pressing Amarinder
to arrest Majithia on the basis of investigation by ED in a
drug racket case.
Amarinder's cabinet colleague Navjot Singh Sidhu has
been vocal in the recent past, seeking Majithia's arrest. Majithia was not available for comment.
