Five killed in road accident in Punjab

Moga: Five persons were today killed and as many injured when their jeep rammed into a tree in the Baghapurana area here, police said.  

The accident took place around 10 am when the passengers of the jeep were travelling to Mudki, they said. The jeep dashed against a tree after the driver lost control of the vehicle while tyring to save a cyclist, Moga Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sukhdeep Singh said.

Five of the occupants died on the spot and the other five were rushed to a local hospital, the DSP said.  

The deceased, who were in the age-group of 30 to 40 years, were identified as Sewak Singh, Badal Singh, Jasdev Singh, Hansa Singh and Vicky, the DSP added. PTI
