The ruling Congress party has sought the resignation of the leader of Opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira.
Addressing a press conference, senior Congress leader Dr Raj Kumar Verka here today said that since Khaira had been summoned by a court in connection with a drugs case, he should immediately resign from the office of the leader of the Opposition.
Dr Verka said that the Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal should also clarify his position with regard to Khaira. The Congress leader said that already a large number of people involved in drugs case have been convicted by the Court.
He alleged that Khaira used to call one person, convicted by the court in the drug case, often on his mobile phone. But when Khaira came to know that his phone is being recorded by the police he stopped calling from his own phone and started using someone else's phone. Dr Verka said that Khaira should immediately step down from the office held by him.
