
Chandigarh: Adampur in Punjab was the
coldest place recording a minimum temperature of minus 0.8
degrees Celsius today as the ongoing cold wave conditions
prevailing in the state and neighbouring Haryana continued
unabated.
The minimum temperature registered a further drop at many
places in Punjab, a Meteorological Department official said
here.
Amritsar also reeled at a low of 1 degrees Celsius, down
two notches against normal limit.
Freezing cold also swept Halwara, which recorded a low
of 1.3 degrees Celsius while Bathinda also reeled at a low of
1.8 degrees Celsius.
Faridkot recorded a low of 2 degrees Celsius while
Pathankot registered a low of 3.7 degrees Celsius.
Ludhiana experienced a cold night at 4.2 degrees Celsius
while the low at Gurdaspur settled at 4.8 degrees Celsius.
Patiala recorded a minimum of 6.6 degrees Celsius and
Chandigarh experienced a cold night at 6.6 degrees Celsius.
There was no let up in biting chill at most places in
Haryana, with Narnaul recording a low of 3 degrees Celsius.
Biting cold also swept Hisar, which recorded a low of 4.1
degrees Celsius while Karnal's minimum temperature settled at
3.2 degrees Celsius.
Cold weather conditions also persisted in Sirsa, where
the minimum temperature settled at 3.2 degrees Celsius.
Rohtak and Ambala recorded respective minimum
temperatures of 6.6 degrees Celsius and 6.8 degrees Celsius.
Bhiwani's minimum settled at 5 degrees Celsius.
The MeT official said that dense fog reduced visibility
early in the morning today at Amritsar.
