Case registered against four persons for minor's marriage

On the complaint of a Tohana resident, the Moonak police on Saturday registered a case against four persons for getting a minor girl married.

The police have started raids to arrest the accused. As per complaint lodged by Mela Singh, who is the father of the 12-year-old victim, his former wife Gurmeet Kaur, whom he divorced in 2010, has got his minor daughter married to Jagtar Singh (24) of Moonak with the help of two matchmakers Fauja Singh and Om Wati on October 23, 2017.

“We have registered a case against four persons — Jagtar Singh, Fauja Singh, Om Wati and Gurmeet Kaur — and conducting raids to arrest them,” said Ramandeep Singh, SHO of the Moonak police station.
