Beware of fraud in name of lotteries, Punjab government cautions

Chandigarh: The Lottery Department, Punjab, has made it absolutely clear that the State Government at present is not running any online lottery and neither does it contact any lottery winner through e-mail.

Disclosing this here today, an official spokesman said that it has come to the notice of the Lottery Department that some anti-social elements are committing fraud with the people in the name of the bumper lottery schemes of Punjab by sending fraudulent e-mails implying that they have won the first prize. The spokesman clarified that no such e-mail is sent by the Government and neither does it runs any such online lottery.

Adding more, the spokesman said that the lottery schemes of Punjab are being run in an absolutely transparent manner and the people are informed through media regarding the bumper lottery schemes issued at various intervals.

Elaborating further, the spokesman said that the tickets pertaining to the New Year Lohri Bumper-2018 would be issued very soon and the draw would be out on 17th January, 2018. Divulging more, the spokesman said that the special aspect of the Punjab Government run lottery schemes is that the first prize is given to the common people from the tickets sold which makes these schemes very popular among the people. The spokesman cautioned the people to beware of rogue elements committing fraud with them.
