Amritsar, Bathinda, Adampur coldest places in Punjab

Chandigarh: Amritsar, Bathinda and Adampur in Punjab continued to reel under biting cold conditions, but minimum temperature hovered close to normal at most other places in the state and neighbouring Haryana today. 

Adampur reeled under intense cold recording a low of 3.9 degrees Celsius. Amritsar recorded a low of 4.6 degrees Celsius while Bathinda's night temperature settled at 4.8 degrees Celsius, a MeT Department official said here.

Gurdaspur (6.2 C), Halwara (6.4 C) and Pathankot (6.7 C) also experienced cold weather conditions, even though the minimum temperature at these places settled within the normal limit. Ludhiana and Patiala registered above normal lows at 8.2 degrees Celsius and 10.6 degrees Celsius, respectively.  

Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, recorded a low of 9.4 degrees Celsius, up three notches against normal.   In Haryana, Hisar was the coldest place recording a low of 6 degrees Celsius, down three notches against normal limit.

Ambala recorded a low of 12 degrees Celsius, up four notches against normal while Karnal's minimum settled at 10.6 degrees Celsius, two more than the normal limit.  

Narnaul (11.3 degrees Celsius), Rohtak (11.7 degrees Celsius), Sirsa (8.6 C) and Bhiwani (10.2 degrees Celsius) also registered above normal minimum temperature. PTI
