Amritsar, Adampur coldest places in Punjab

Chandigarh: Biting cold wave gripped Amritsar and Adampur in Punjab today as most of the places in the state and neighbouring Haryana continued to reel under intense chill.  

The minimum temperatures hovered below normal limit at most places in the two states, a Meteorological Department official said here. Amritsar and Adampur recorded identical minimum temperatures of 3.5 degrees Celsius.

Cold weather conditions also prevailed in Bathinda, where the minimum settled at 4.9 degrees Celsius. Faridkot at a low of 5.6 degrees Celsius, Gurdaspur at 5 degrees Celsius and Halwara at 4.8 degrees Celsius also reeled under piercing cold.  

Pathankot recorded a low of 6.5 degrees Celsius while Ludhiana and Patiala registered minimum temperatures of 7.1 degrees Celsius and 7 degrees Celsius respectively.

Chandigarh recorded a low of 7.2 degrees Celsius. In Haryana, Narnaul was the coldest place recording a low of 5.2 degrees Celsius while Hisar reeled at a low of 5.6 degrees Celsius.  

Rohtak, too, experienced a cold night at 6 degrees Celsius, while Bhiwani registered a low of 6.8 degrees Celsius. Ambala and Karnal recorded minimum temperatures of 6.5 degrees Celsius and 6 degrees Celsius respectively. PTI
