Vinesh Phogat at Shambhu Border Farmers Protest Latest News: Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who was disqualified from the Paris Olympics 2024, visited the farmers' protest at the Shambhu border of Punjab-Haryana today.
During her visit, farmer leaders honored her on stage and the event also marked the completion of 200 days of the Kisan Andolan. Following this, Vinesh Phogat will join the ongoing farmers' movement at the Khanuri border.
At the event, Vinesh Phogat remarked that although it has been 200 days since the farmers began their protest, their enthusiasm remains as strong as on the first day.
She emphasized that not everyone demanding their rights is a politician and that the movement should not be associated with any religion. Phogat stressed that the farmers' demands should be met and that resolving their issues should be the government’s top priority.
"I have come to my family," Phogat stated, adding "My country is suffering, and farmers are suffering. Their issues should be resolved, and addressing them should be the government’s first priority."
At the Shambhu border, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said, "It has been 200 days of the agitation. A lot of injustice was done to us. Allegations were leveled against us. We were called Khalistanis and a lot of things. We braved sun, rain, winter and despite all of that, the protest continued peacefully the 200 days."
"This is a major success for us. So, on this occasion, we called farmers here together...She (Vinesh Phogat) too reached here. We felicitated her. Farmers' daughter would stand with farmers..." she added.
