Residents of Punjab are expected to find respite from the oppressive heat

Punjab Weather Update Today Latest News: Residents of Punjab are expected to find respite from the oppressive heat and humidity in the coming days, as the Meteorological Department has forecast significant rainfall for the state. Starting today, Wednesday, the region is set to receive heavy rains due to a new weather system.

Orange Alert: Issued for eight districts, indicating a high likelihood of heavy rainfall. These districts include Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Bathinda, Barnala, Mansa, and Sangrur.

Yellow Alert: Issued for fifteen districts, signaling a moderate risk of rain. This includes Tarn Taran, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Firozpur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala, Mohali, and Malerkotla.
Current Conditions:

The average maximum temperature across Punjab has risen by 0.7 degrees Celsius. With all districts reporting temperatures above 33 degrees Celsius, Bathinda has seen the highest temperature at 39.8 degrees Celsius—3.6 degrees above the seasonal average. Despite these high temperatures, recent rainfall has been sparse.

Cyclonic Winds and Monsoon Activity:

The Meteorological Department attributes the upcoming rain to the formation of cyclonic winds over Himachal Pradesh. This atmospheric disturbance is expected to enhance monsoon activity in Punjab, particularly in areas bordering Himachal Pradesh.
