Injured Jugraj Singh is undergoing treatment at Fortis Hospital, Amritsar

GURDASPUR: Punjab Police's Constable Jugraj Singh was injured during an encounter between a gang of robbers and police late at night in Sangatpura village of Fatehgarh Churian town of Batala. About 30 rounds were fired in this face-off.

Injured Jugraj Singh is undergoing treatment at Fortis Hospital in Amritsar. Two of the four members of the robber gang have been arrested by the police, while two managed to escape. The miscreants were escaping after snatching a woman's purse. The police went to nab the robbers in the village, during which the miscreants started opening fire.

As per the police officials, the other three robbers are residents of Sangatpura. The search for the absconding robbers is ongoing by the police. The accused gang was very active in conducting crime at Amritsar and Gurdaspur area. The accused had recently committed a robbery in a finance company in Fatehgarh Churian area of Gurdaspur.
