Union Home Ministry's UAPA Act Designation Targets Landa Linked to Babbar Khalsa International

Gangster Lakhbir Singh Landa News Latest: In a significant move, India has officially declared Lakhbir Singh Landa, an operative associated with Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Landa, infamous for orchestrating terror from the sanctuary of Canada, faces numerous charges, including murder and attempted murder.

Lakhbir Singh Landa, identified as the mastermind behind the Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) attacks in Mohali and Tarn Taran, has been linked to a range of criminal activities. The Union Home Ministry's declaration under UAPA underscores his involvement in dozens of cases, including the smuggling of arms and Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) from Pakistan into India.

Landa is accused of actively monitoring and facilitating the illicit transportation of arms and IEDs across the India-Pakistan border. Furthermore, he stands accused of targeting Hindu leaders in Punjab, purportedly at the behest of a Pakistani intelligence agency.

RPG Attack on Punjab Police Headquarters

The RPG attack on the Intelligence Headquarters of the Punjab Police in Mohali on May 9, 2022, is attributed to Landa's orchestration. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Punjab Police have registered cases against him, highlighting the severity of his criminal involvements.

International Presence and Red Corner Notice

A resident of Tarn Taran in Punjab, Landa has been on the radar of investigative agencies for some time. The NIA had issued a Red Corner Notice against him in 2021, coupled with a reward of Rs 15 lakh for information leading to his arrest. Having escaped from Canada in 2017, intelligence reports suggest that he is currently evading authorities in Alberta, Canada.
