Celebrated Sikh kirtani Bhai Harjinder Singh Ji (Sri Nagar Wale) has been awarded the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian honours, by President Droupadi Murmu, in a special ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday.

The award recognises Bhai Harjinder Singh Ji’s decades-long dedication to the art of Gurbani Kirtan, through which he has inspired millions and helped preserve the spiritual and musical traditions of the Sikh faith. His voice, steeped in devotion and purity, has echoed in Gurdwaras across the globe, earning deep respect across communities.

This recognition is seen as a moment of pride not only for the Sikh Panth but also for the world of Indian spiritual music. Bhai Harjinder Singh Ji’s tireless efforts in spreading the message of Guru Granth Sahib Ji through divine melody have now received long-overdue national appreciation.
