“After the trade deal with the United States, the world's confidence grew further,” he added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while replying to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, said that the past few years have marked a period of rapid growth and development in the country’s journey towards a Viksit Bharat (developed India). He said this progress had brought transformation and that the country was moving in the right direction.
Speaking on the President’s Address, PM Modi said, “The President has elaborately presented India’s progress in Parliament, covering the middle class, lower middle class, the poor, villages, farmers, women, science, technology, agriculture, and all sections of society.”
Highlighting India’s global standing, PM Modi stated that today India has emerged as a ray of hope for the world, offering solutions to the challenges it is facing.
“It is also a significant moment that among the major economies, India’s growth rate is very high. High growth combined with low inflation is a very rare and unique combination,” he added.
He said India is entering into future-ready trade deals with several countries.
“In recent times, we have concluded major trade agreements with some of the world’s most important and advanced economies. A landmark deal has been finalised with the European Union, involving 27 countries,” the Prime Minister said.
Taking a dig at the Congress, PM Modi said, “Those who are tired and disappointed today will, sooner or later, have to answer how they allowed the country to reach a stage where no nation in the world was willing to enter into a trade deal with India.”
Alleging that the Congress indulged in “vote-bank politics,” he said it lacked vision and, as a result, “the country had to suffer so much.”
Drawing a comparison, PM Modi stated that today India is being engaged with on equal terms and is positively perceived worldwide. He added that when delegations from all political parties visited different countries, they too experienced this sentiment.
He further stated that young people from the middle class, from cities and villages, including sons and daughters, would benefit from these trade deals.
Speaking on recent agreements, he said, “Major nations across the world are eager to build trade partnerships with India. Be it the trade agreement with the European Union or the recent trade deal with the United States.”
He continued, “The entire world is openly welcoming these trade deals,” adding that the trade agreement with the European Union strengthened global confidence in stability.
“After the trade deal with the United States, the world’s confidence grew further,” he added.
