Punjab's government and environmental agencies continue efforts to curb stubble burning

Punjab Stubble Burning Latest News Today: Punjab recorded 108 new incidents of stubble burning on Sunday, adding to the state’s mounting pollution levels. With farm fires ramping up, pollution has also begun to affect the neighboring city of Chandigarh.

Tarn Taran district reported the highest number of cases with 24 incidents, followed by Ferozepur with 19, Patiala with 11, and both Amritsar and Sangrur with 10 each. So far, a total of 1,857 farm fires have been documented in the state this year, marking a significant reduction from last year’s 3,293 incidents.

Meanwhile, temperatures in both Punjab and Chandigarh are gradually decreasing, with Sunday seeing a drop of 1 degree in Punjab and 2.2 degrees in Chandigarh. Despite this, the average temperature across Punjab remains 2 degrees above normal for the season.

As Punjab's government and environmental agencies continue efforts to curb stubble burning, these recent statistics highlight the ongoing challenge of balancing agricultural practices with pollution control to improve air quality across the region.
