SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami Receives Religious Punishment By 'Panj Pyare': In a significant decision by the Singh Sahibans of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has been directed to undergo religious punishment for using foul language against Bibi Jagir Kaur.
The Akal Takht, the highest temporal authority of Sikhs, announced that Advocate Dhami would undertake seva (voluntary service) and prayer as atonement. According to the directive, he will perform one hour of service at the Joda Ghar (shoe storage area) and another hour in the langar hall, serving community meals to visitors. Additionally, he must recite the Panj Japji Sahib path.
The punishment follows a case brought to the Singh Sahibans, wherein Dhami was accused of using inappropriate language against Bibi Jagir Kaur, a former SGPC president and prominent Sikh leader.
This directive serves as a reminder to Sikh leaders and the community at large about the importance of humility, respect, and adherence to Sikh ethics. Advocate Dhami has reportedly accepted the directive and is expected to complete the prescribed seva and prayers promptly.
