Rain Alert Issued for 7 Districts in Punjab, Temporary Relief Expected from Rains by Tuesday

The Meteorological Dept foresees a respite from the cloud cover in Punjab, anticipating rain today

CHANDIGARH: The Skies over Punjab retained their overcast demeanor on Sunday, with the Meteorological Department signaling a rain alert for seven districts, Fazilka, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Bathinda, Faridkot, Tarn Taran, Moga, and Ferozepur. Additionally, a yellow alert has been issued for West and East Malwa for the day.

According to the latest data released by the Meteorological Department, Malwa is likely to experience more rainfall. In contrast, other parts of Punjab have observed marginal changes in weather due to the persistent cloud cover, maintaining the pleasant climate. Anticipated rain is expected to persist on Monday as well, before gradually subsiding. Post Monday, the weather is projected to stabilize, exhibiting minimal fluctuations in both daytime and nighttime temperatures. The daytime maximum temperature is estimated to hover around 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to range between 23 to 25 degrees Celsius.

Over the past 24 hours, several districts in Punjab experienced heavy rainfall. Notably, Patiala received 41.4 mm of rainfall, Chandigarh recorded 11.2 mm, and S.B.S. saw 12.4 mm. Fatehgarh Sahib witnessed 3 mm, and Ropar recorded 17 mm of rainfall. Amritsar city marked a minimum temperature of 24.1 degrees Celsius, a rise of 2.9 degrees compared to the previous day. The day's temperature is anticipated to reach around 32 degrees Celsius. Jalandhar's minimum temperature was recorded at 24 degrees Celsius on Sunday morning, while Ludhiana experienced a minimum temperature of 22.9 degrees Celsius, marking a 1.5-degree increase from the previous day.
