National Herald Case: Delhi High Court Lists ED Plea Against Sonia, Rahul Gandhi for April 20
The Delhi High Court will hear the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) plea challenging a lower court order that had declined to take cognizance of the National Herald money laundering case against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and others. The hearing is scheduled for April 20.
The ED filed the petition seeking review of the December 16, 2025, decision by the lower court, which had refused to proceed with the complaint. The lower court had noted that it could not act on the complaint because it was not based on a formal First Information Report (FIR).
Additional Solicitor General S.V. Raju, appearing for the ED, requested the court to consider a short timeline for the hearing, citing the urgency of the matter.
Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma informed the court on Monday that the matter could not be heard that day and confirmed the next date for proceedings.
Earlier, on December 22, 2025, the Delhi High Court had issued notices to the Gandhi family and other respondents regarding the main petition and the ED’s application for relief against the lower court’s order.
The case will return to the High Court on April 20, when the ED’s petition will be formally taken up. The court’s examination will determine the next procedural steps in the case.
