Over 800 Indians in Houston Celebrate 150 Years of Vande Mataram 

Houston’s Indian community gathered in large numbers on Sunday to commemorate the 150th anniversary of India’s national song, Vande Mataram. The event, organized by the Indian Consulate, drew over 800 participants and celebrated the song’s long-standing significance in Indian culture.

Performances at the program highlighted India’s rich musical traditions, taking the audience through melodies that reflect the country’s diverse regions. The program included performances featuring the song composed in 1875 by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee and celebrated its role in Indian cultural heritage.
