25-year-old youth dead, another injured in a road accident in Mohali

A 25-year-old motorcycle-borne youth died while his friend received injuries at the Phase VIII and IX light point in Mohali. The killed youth has been identified as Arjun Singh, a resident of Nangal in Rupnagar district of Punjab. 

As per the sources, Arjun, his friend Rahul and sister Anu were returning home from Chandigarh when the accident took place on the light point of Mohali.

Arjun and Rahul were on a bike and were closely followed by Anu on a scooter. When they reached the light point, their motorcycle was hit by a pickup truck. The unidentified truck driver sped away from the spot after the accident. 

The youth was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Phase VIII, Mohali, where he was declared brought dead by the doctors. His friend Rahul sustained injuries in the accident.

Arjun worked at a private company and had done his postgraduation in computer applications.


Meanwhile, the police have registered a case under Sections 304-A (causing death by negligence) and 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the unidentified truck driver.
