Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, speaking to ANI, stated, “We have arrested four accused who were operating an extortion racket. They made extortion calls to a reputable businessman and, to make their threats appear more serious, collaborated with two shooters, recorded a video at the businessman’s construction site, fired two shots in the air, and sent the video to him.”

A case was registered on July 21, and senior officers were immediately deployed to investigate the matter.

Two of the main accused have been identified as Simran alias Simratpal Singh and Harpreet Happy, who were the masterminds behind the operation. The other two accused, Amandeep and another individual named Simratpal, are both residents of Amritsar.

Commissioner Bhullar added, “While the masterminds were being intercepted and arrested, we recovered a 0.45 bore pistol. As they were being taken to the police vehicle, Harpreet Happy attempted to snatch a 9 mm carbine from our sepoy, causing a scuffle. He was shot in the leg during the chaos and was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.”
