To secure Singh’s swift return, both sides have convened a flag meeting at the nearest crossing point.

An Indian border guard found himself in Pakistani custody Wednesday when he inadvertently crossed the Firozpur border line, triggering immediate talks between the Border Security Force (BSF) and Pakistan Rangers.

The guard, Constable PK Singh of BSF’s 182nd battalion, was patrolling with local farmers when he stepped across the unmarked frontier to rest under a tree. Clad in uniform and carrying his service rifle, he was intercepted and detained by Pakistani Rangers.

To secure Singh’s swift return, both sides have convened a flag meeting at the nearest crossing point.

His detention arrives amid strained India–Pakistan relations following the recent Pahalgam terror attack, underscoring the delicate nature of frontier duty. Talks are ongoing, and Singh’s release is anticipated once protocols have been observed.
