IMD has also issued a red alert in the state for January 24.
Punjab Weather News Update Today: Cold day conditions and dense fog continue to prevail in Punjab as the state registered a fall of -2.1 degrees Celsius, thus enhancing the cold conditions across the state. The India Meteorological Department stated it was still near normal in the state.
In the meanwhile, the lowest minimum temperature in the state was recorded at Ballowal Saunkhri (AMFU) where the mercury level dipped to 1.7 degrees Celsius.
According to information, Chandigarh recorded 3.6 degrees Celsius, while Chandigarh (Airport) recorded 3.3 degrees Celsius, Amritsar recorded 5.7, Ludhiana 4.1, Patiala 3.6, Pathankot 5.3, Bathinda 3.4, Faridkot 4.0, Gurdaspur 3.0, Ballowal (SBS Nagar) 1.7, Faridkot (AWS) 5.8, Samrala (Ludhiana) 5.7, Budh Singh Wala (Moga) 2.5, and Ropar recorded 3.5.
Earlier, the India Meteorological Department on Tuesday stated that "Jet Stream Winds of the order of 130-150 knots at 12.6 km above mean sea level continues to prevail over the plains of North India. A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan Region from January 25 and another from January 27, 2024."
Similarly, the IMD has also issued a red alert in the state for January 24. As per red alert, dense to very dense fog along with cold day to severe cold day conditions were likely at most of the places in Punjab.
