Strengthening and broadening of Sultanpur Lodhi roads to be accomplished in a record time of 10 months....

Spokesman News Service: Chandigarh/ Kapurthala, November 23: Appreciating the goodwill gesture of Centre as well as the Pakistan government towards construction of Kartarpur corridor, Mr Vijay Inder Singla, PWD Minister Punjab said that the department will extend all-out support to construct the approximate two-kilometre stretch of the corridor which falls in the Indian territory.

He further said that the roads of the historic and the sacred town of Sultanpur Lodhi will be upgraded by Public works department in a record time of 10 months. The Minister said that 19 roads have been identified for broadening and strengthening as per the survey of the departmental team and the input received from the local MLAs as well as the public.

An amount of Rs. 90 crore would be spent in the first phase of the upgradation work, said he and informed that the tendering process has already been done and the work allocation will be done in a day or two. Work on the ground will commence within a fortnight said Singla and added that he would personally oversee the entire work and deploy a dedicated team of officials departmental officials to ensure timely completion of the work for the convenience of the pilgrims.
