AAP MLA Raman Arora Arrested Following Vigilance Raid in Corruption Probe

AAP's move against one of its own sends a pointed message: the crackdown on corruption will spare no one.

AAP MLA Raman Arora Arrest Latest News Today: In a dramatic escalation to a high-profile anti-corruption investigation, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Raman Arora was arrested earlier today following a vigilance raid at his residence and offices. The arrest comes just hours after officials conducted a coordinated operation based on allegations linking the legislator to a bribery and extortion racket involving the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation.

Arora, who represents Jalandhar Central, was taken into custody by Punjab Vigilance Bureau officials after what sources describe as the recovery of incriminating evidence. The bureau alleges that Arora exploited municipal machinery to serve fraudulent notices to citizens and later orchestrated their withdrawal in exchange for bribes.

According to preliminary findings, municipal officials acted under Arora’s directives to target selected residents, who were then pressured into paying off the MLA to “resolve” the falsely generated issues. Investigators believe the scheme may have been running for several months, potentially implicating others within the municipal system.

The arrest marks a significant moment for the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government, which has touted a strong anti-corruption agenda since coming to power. While the AAP has previously acted against opposition leaders, this move against one of its own sends a pointed message: the crackdown on corruption will spare no one.
