Hemkund Sahib Yatra to Begin from May 25, Preparations in Final Stages
Hemkund Sahib Yatra 2025 latest news: Final preparations are underway for the Hemkund Sahib Yatra 2025, with Indian Army personnel clearing snow from the route, the ANI reported on May 21 in the afternoon. The pilgrimage will begin on May 25, as the sacred Sikh shrine in Uttarakhand opens its doors for ‘darshan’.
Following Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s directions, Chamoli District Administration and Shri Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara Trust, under the supervision of DM Sandeep Tiwari, are ensuring arrangements for electricity, water, toilets, and medical facilities along the route. Preparations are being coordinated by the Gurudwara Management Committees of Govindghat, Ghangaria, and Hemkund Sahib.

"Hemkund Sahib Yatra 2025: Before the opening of the gates, Chamoli police intensified preparations, did a field inspection of the walking route, and took stock of the security arrangements," Uttarakhand Police said in a post on X.
To streamline the registration process, the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) has introduced Aadhaar authentication and eKYC for online registration for both the Char Dham and Hemkund Sahib Yatras, the ANI report said. This move aims to reduce registration time, manage pilgrim flow, and enhance safety and resource planning, especially in high-altitude areas.
Located at over 15,000 feet in Chamoli district, Hemkund Sahib is a major Sikh pilgrimage site, attracting thousands of devotees each summer. It remains inaccessible from October to April due to heavy snowfall.
