CAT Issues Contempt Notice to UT’s Secretary, DPI for Non Release of Revised DA to Contractual Teachers

Chandigarh, 22nd Feb: The Central Administrative Tribunal, Chandigarh Bench has issued a notice to Sh. Saravjit Singh, IAS Secretary  Education   UT  Administration   besides   DPI  (S)   Sh. Rubinderjeet  Singh Brar and DEO (S) Mrs. Vinay R Sood for April 24, 2019, while hearing a contempt petition filed by Suman Sharma working as TGT on contract basis in Govt.

Model Senior Secondary School, (GMSSS), Sector 8, Chandigarh along with her 140 other colleagues seeking initiation of Contempt Proceedings for non-compliance of the judgment passed by CAT on July 16, 2018. Sh. Ranjivan Singh, Counsel for the applicants contended that earlier in the year 2017, the applicants have approached the CAT by way of filing Original Application (OA) claiming the grant of Dearness Allowance (DA) as revised from time to time from their initial appointments on contract basis along with the basic pay as admissible to their counterparts.

The said OA was allowed by CAT far back on July 16, 2018, but despite passing of 7 months the due arrears of the DA as revised from time to time was not granted to the applicants which compelled them to again approach CAT by filing Contempt Petition.
