The Punjab Government has decided to make physical education related activities compulsory for school children.

Chandigarh: The Punjab Government has decided to make physical education related activities compulsory for school children. This decision will be implemented after reopening of school following Covid-19.

According to a spokesperson of the Punjab school education department, after getting the green signal from the education minister Vijay Inder Singla, the Director SCERT has issued letters to all district education officers and school heads in this regard.

According to the spokesperson, the purpose of initiating physical activities for the students is to identify their hidden talents, to ensure their all round development and to give them the right direction beside to provide a high level platform for sports by selecting talented players.

This will also increase the tolerance, focus and physical balance of the students. They will also develop a sense of leadership by physical activities.
