Punjab Govt's OPS Seal-XVII: A Major Victory in CM Bhagwant Mann's War Against Drugs

With operations like OPS Seal-XVII, Punjab reaffirmed its determination to turn the state into a drug-free, safe, and progressive state.

Chandigarh: In yet another strong display of commitment to making Punjab drug-free, the state government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann successfully carried out OPS Seal-XVII, a massive operation aimed at cutting off drug and liquor smuggling routes across the state. This bold step is part of the ongoing “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign, which has already yielded historic results.

On the directions of CM Bhagwant Mann, Punjab Police conducted a coordinated crackdown from 6 am to 2 pm, sealing 92 entry and exit points across 10 border districts, including Pathankot, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Fazilka, Rupanagar, SAS Nagar, Patiala, Sangrur, Mansa, Hoshiarpur, and Bathinda.

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav mobilized all Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to lead joint naka operations, deploying maximum manpower under the direct supervision of Gazetted Officers and SHOs.

Special DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla revealed that over 700 police personnel formed well-coordinated nakas, ensuring a tight security grid to check every vehicle entering or exiting the state.

Three-Pronged Strategy Delivering Results

Under CM Bhagwant Mann’s leadership, the state has implemented a three-pronged strategy—Enforcement, De-addiction, and Prevention (EDP)—that is transforming the fight against drugs.

As part of this, Punjab Police successfully convinced 57 individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment in a single day, proving that the campaign is not only punishing smugglers but also rescuing lives.
