Leaders of Opposition (LoP) in Punjab Vidhan Sabha Harpal Singh Cheema on Wednesday asked the Local Bodies Minister of Punjab Navjot Sidhu

Chandigarh, February 20: Leaders of Opposition (LoP) in Punjab Vidhan Sabha Harpal Singh Cheema on Wednesday asked the Local Bodies Minister of Punjab Navjot Singh Sidhu on the floor of the House on the long- standing issue of bringing the Chhajli and Mahila under the NAC, saying the issue had been pending for a long time now.

In reply to Cheema’s question, Sidhu informed the House that both the villages were being brought under the NAC and that efforts were afoot to expedite the matter. On this, Cheema reiterated that during the last Vidhan Sabha session similar assurance had been given but nothing had come out of the narrative. Sidhu was quick to add that almost 80 per cent official formalities were complete and the residents of the areas would see the notification in this regard anytime soon.

Answering his question, the minister informed that there were already 22 colleges in the district (Moga) and that there was a university-college in the area, which was barely 11 km from Bilaspur area, hence no degree college was in the pipeline.
