20-year-old girl commits suicide

Patiala: A 20-year-old girl reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her house. The girl has been identified as Babli.

The police said the girl was married about 7 months ago and was depressed. SHO Harjinder Singh said the family hailed from Uttar Pradesh (UP) and the girl's husband was a labourer.

He said the girl committed suicide when she was alone in her house. He also said that the case would be registered after recording the statement of her parents, who were on their way to the city from UP.

Meanwhile, the police have registered a report under Section 174 (police to inquire and report on suicide) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
