Moga: The police have arrested two liquor smugglers and recovered 101 cases (1,212 bottles) of liquor, one illegal .32 bore revolver and a Bolero jeep from their possession.
Those arrested were identified as Chamkaur Singh alias Rinki and Jora Singh, said a senior police officer. He claimed that Rinki and his father Lakhvir Singh alias Bhau were involved in many criminal cases. They were into liquor smuggling for quite some time. A case under Sections 61,1 and 14 of the Excise Act, 420 IPC and 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act has been registered against them at Kot-Ise-Khan police station.
Further investigations are on. In a related incident, a joint team of the excise and police officials seized 284 bottles of smuggled liquor from the house of one Naranjan Singh at Buttar Kalan village. However, the accused managed to escape. A search had been launched to nab him, said ASI Sukhmandar Singh.
