Unfortunate Incident occurred at the Jagraon Bus Stand

LUDHIANA: In a harrowing incident, Gurdeep Kaur, a 35-year-old woman, lost her life in a tragic accident involving a Punjab Roadways bus in Jagraon, Ludhiana. The unfortunate incident occurred at the Jagraon bus stand, sending shockwaves through the community.

The Deceased woman's father, Manjit Singh, a resident of village Bhutta under Dehlon's police station, recounted the heart-wrenching events. Gurdeep Kaur, who was unwell, had accompanied her father to Jagraon to collect medication. They were on their way back to Ludhiana after obtaining the necessary medicines. Boarding a Punjab Roadways bus from the Jagraon bus stand, Gurdeep had one foot inside the bus and the other outside when tragedy struck.

In a horrifying turn of events, the bus driver initiated movement without ensuring Gurdeep's complete safety. As a result, Gurdeep lost her balance and fell from the moving bus. Passengers on the bus witnessed the distressing incident, shouting to alert the driver. However, tragically, the driver reversed the bus, crushing Gurdeep Kaur under the front tire. The driver fled the scene, leaving the passengers in a state of shock and distress. Gurdeep Kaur was immediately rushed to Civil Hospital Jagraon in critical condition. Given the severity of her injuries, medical professionals at Civil Hospital referred her to Ludhiana's DMC Hospital for urgent medical care.

Notably, Despite the efforts to save her, Gurdeep Kaur succumbed to her injuries at DMC Hospital. The body was later transferred to her family after a post-mortem examination. A case has been registered against the bus driver at the City Jagraon police station under sections 279 and 304-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
