Multi-State Criminal with a Notorious Past: Deepak Rathi's Arrest Deals a Blow to Gangster Network
AMRITSAR: In a major breakthrough, the Amritsar Police successfully arrested Deepak Rathi alias Dhillon alias Parvesh Haryanvi, a notorious shooter associated with gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria. The arrest took place in Maharashtra, where the shooter had been evading authorities. Known for his criminal activities in Punjab, Deepak Rathi also faces multiple charges in Delhi-Haryana.
Under the vigilant leadership of ADCP-3 Abhimanyu Rana and ACP-Detective Gurinderpal Singh Nagra, the Amritsar Police, along with the cooperation of Maharashtra Police, located and apprehended Deepak Rathi from the Rankla Tower Area in Kohlapur, Maharashtra. Following the arrest, the Amritsar Police obtained transit remand and successfully brought the accused back to Punjab.
Deepak Rathi's criminal history spans across multiple states, with four cases registered against him in Delhi-Haryana. Prior to this arrest, he had also served time in Tihar Jail in Haryana and Delhi. It was during his time there that he formed a connection with gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria.
The recent case for which he was apprehended in Amritsar involved an incident on May 22, where Deepak Rathi, along with his accomplices, opened fire on individuals standing outside a hotel near Golden Gate, Amritsar. During the police investigation, links to the infamous Jaggu Bhagwanpuria's gang came to light, leading to a series of arrests. The investigation revealed that the car used in the crime had been looted from Amritsar bypass a few days prior to the incident, indicating a well-planned and coordinated operation.
