Kangana Ranaut Emergency Movie Release in Punjab Latest News Today: Kangana Ranaut's much-awaited film "Emergency" faces severe backlash on its release day. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, or SGPC, has asked for a ban on the movie's screening in Punjab and appealed to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to act accordingly.
The SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami has written a letter to the Chief Minister, stating that the film might hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community.
According to the SGPC, the real reason for protesting against the film is facts, represented in the film, related to attacks on prominent Sikh shrines like Sri Harmandar Sahib and Akal Takht Sahib, along with the 1984 Sikh genocide.
BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa has shown confidence in the state government's approach to the issue. He thinks the government will take the necessary steps to address the issues raised by the SGPC.
"Emergency" is a political drama that captures the chaos of the Emergency declared in India in 1975 by then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The movie aims to be a strong narration of one of the most debated episodes in the post-independence history of India. For the film, Kangana Ranaut is acting and working as director and producer.
The film has encountered several challenges leading up to its release. Despite the controversies, Kangana Ranaut is optimistic about the film's release.
The movie's release falls on Cinema Lovers Day, and for the same, few theaters have provided discounted tickets. Kangana took to social media to declare that the audience can watch "Emergency" at Rs 99.
