IMD Chandigarh Issues Yellow Alert for Four South-Western Punjab Districts
Punjab Weather Updates Today— The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Chandigarh, has issued yellow alerts for four south-western districts of Punjab for Wednesday, warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, and other adverse weather conditions.
The districts under yellow alert are Fazilka, Muktsar, Bathinda, and Mansa.
Meanwhile, no alerts have been issued for the remaining districts in the general forecast for today. However, the state IMD has placed SAS Nagar under an orange alert in its nowcast, warning of light thunderstorms, surface winds up to 40 km/h, and moderate rain. The nowcast is valid up to 11:30 a.m. today.
The weather is expected to remain cool and pleasant throughout the week, with no major adverse weather warnings issued by the state meteorological department.
For Thursday, July 17, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Fazilka, Muktsar, and Bathinda, warning of heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, and similar weather conditions. No alerts have been issued for the remaining districts.
Weather Observed in the Past 24 Hours:
In the past 24 hours, there has been no major change in the average minimum temperature, which remains near normal across the state, the IMD said in its latest update.
The lowest minimum temperature in the state was 24.1°C, recorded at Amritsar, which also received the maximum rainfall of 51.3 mm in the state.
