Punjab Chandigarh Latest Weather Updates: Punjab had been reeling under extreme heat for the past several days, but yesterday’s light showers, cloudy skies, and gusty winds brought some much-needed respite from the scorching temperatures. The region had been witnessing severe to extreme heatwave conditions, along with warm nights, similar to many other parts of northern India.

Rainfall over the past 24 hours included: 1.6 mm in Patiala, 0.3 mm in Gurdaspur, 0.5 mm each in Firozpur and KVK Pathankot (AWS).

IMD Chandigarh issued an Orange Alert for three districts of Punjab for June 16, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, and strong surface winds, as per the update released on June 15.

In addition, the State Meteorological Department has issued Yellow Alerts for 10 districts — Gurdaspur, Nawanshahr, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, SAS Nagar, Sangrur, Barnala, Bathinda, Mansa, and Patiala — due to the forecast of thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, and heatwave conditions.
