NIA Chargesheets 3 in SBS Nagar Police Post Grenade Attack Case Linked to KZF Terror Outfit
New Delhi, 15th June 2025,The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday filed a chargesheet against three accused in connection with the 2024 grenade attack on a police post in Punjab’s SBS Nagar district. The attack has been linked to a major conspiracy by the banned Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) terror outfit.
According to an official press release, the three individuals — Yugpreet Singh alias Yuvi Nihung, Jaskaran Singh alias Shah, and Harjot Singh alias Jot Hundal — all residents of Rahon village in SBS Nagar, have been charged under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Explosive Substances Act, and other related legal provisions.
The NIA has also launched investigations against KZF chief and Designated Individual Terrorist (DIT) Ranjit Singh alias Neeta, as well as operative Jagjit Singh Lahiri alias Jagga/Jagga Miapur/Hari Singh (currently based in the UK), along with other unidentified terror operatives.
The NIA took over the case from Punjab Police in March 2025.
The investigation revealed that Jagga recruited Yugpreet Singh through an acquaintance in the UK. Along with other KZF operatives, Jagga radicalised Yugpreet and handled him via encrypted messaging platforms. Jagga also allegedly provided over rupees 4.36 lakh in terror funds to Yugpreet through a complex network of Canada-based entities, which have now been identified and are under examination.
Yugpreet later recruited the other two accused named in the chargesheet. The trio is alleged to have executed the grenade attack on Police Post Ason during the night of December 1–2, 2024. The grenade used in the attack had reportedly been supplied by foreign-based handlers in November 2024.
The NIA stated that the investigation in case number RC-02/2025/NIA/DLI is ongoing as part of efforts to dismantle KZF’s network and prevent further attempts to target law enforcement agencies, sensitive installations, and individuals in Punjab.
