BBMB organized 'on the spot' State Level Painting Competition on Energy Conservation - 25.5 lac school children participated...

Spokesman News Service: Chandigarh, 14th Nov'18: The Ministry of Power, Government of India has launched the National Awareness Campaign in order to promote energy conservation in the country. Various programmes for school children have been devised to sensitize them about the need for conserving energy and also to educate and involve their parents in this cause.

'On the spot' State Level Painting Competition amongst School Children of UT Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana was organized by Bhakra Beas Management Board at Inderdhanush Auditorium, Sector-5, Panchkula on 14.11.2018. Sh. Balvir Singh Sinhmar was the Nodal Officer of this competition. Over 25.50 lac participants competed for the School Level Competition, out of which 300 children were selected for state level competition.

Sh. D.K. Sharma, Chairman, BBMB was the Chief Guest in this function. Sh. Balvir Singh Sinhmar, Director/HRD and Nodal Officer welcomed Chairman, BBMB on his arrival at the function. Chairman, BBMB inaugurated the function by lightening the ceremonial lamp. While addressing the audience, the Chief Guest appreciated the overwhelming response of children from the states & their awareness towards the energy conservation.

He congratulated the winners & said that those who could not win this time should not feel discouraged but should make an attempt to win next time. He lauded the efforts of BBMB in making this function a success. The painting competition on energy conservation was first conducted at the School Level for classes 4th, 5th & 6th  (Group 'A') & 7th, 8th & 9th (Group 'B') and thereafter 50 children  from each Group were selected from each state/UT by a jury from the best paintings received from the participating schools.

300 participants i.e. 50 participants from each Group of each state/UT participated in the State Level Painting Competition on 14.11.2018. 15 Students of Pavitradham, Rotary School for Hearing Impaired, Ambala also participated in the said competition. During this occasion children of BBMB DAV Public School, Nangal Township presented a cultural programme.

They presented a enlightening skit on environmental protection. Chairman, BBMB highly appreciated the skit on environmental protection and apprised the audience that BBMB is also doing a lot in this field and BBMB will plant 6 lac saplings at its project stations during the coming year.

On this occasion senior officers of BBMB, Punjab, Haryana and UT Chandigarh were present. Cash prizes of Rs.20,000/-, Rs.15000/- Rs.10,000/- were given to first three winners of  Group 'A' & Group 'B' of each State/UT by Chief Guest. Ten consolation prizes for each Group amounting to 5,000/- were also given to selected participants from each State/UT. Besides above, all participants were given a sum of Rs. 2000/- as incidental expenses by BBMB, mementoes from Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power & BBMB.
