Following the startling statement, Bajwa has been summoned by the SAS Nagar Police today at 12 noon for questioning.
Congress leader and Punjab’s Leader of Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa is in hot water after his controversial claim in a TV interview about 50 hand grenades being smuggled into Punjab, with 18 already used in blasts and 32 still out there.
Following the startling statement, Bajwa has been summoned by the SAS Nagar Police today at 12 noon for questioning. The notice, linked to FIR No. 19, was filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 353(2) and 197(1)D. He’s been asked to appear at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Phase 7.
The political fallout was swift. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann didn’t hold back, questioning Bajwa’s credibility and the intent behind such claims. “Even our intelligence agencies don’t have this information. Are Pakistan-based terrorists calling him directly?” Mann asked.
He further said if the claim was true, Bajwa should’ve alerted the police immediately. And if it’s false, he must face consequences for “spreading fear and misinformation.”
The police will now investigate whether Bajwa's statement was based on legitimate information or was a politically charged exaggeration. Either way, the episode has added fresh fire to Punjab’s already heated political landscape.
