AI and Digital Twins: Canadian Expert Dr. Kenneth Kent Maps Future of Farming at PAU

Dr. Kenneth B. Kent, a Professor from the University of New Brunswick (UNB), Canada, conducted a specialized workshop on digital agriculture at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana. Organized by the Alumni Association of the College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology in collaboration with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, the session focused on how technological innovations are redefining the future of farming.

According to the report details, Dr. Kent, who holds the Barrett Chair in Entrepreneurship for Digital Transformation, emphasized the practical applications of "Digital Twins" and Artificial Intelligence. He highlighted how these tools can optimize biogas plants and enhance precision farming. 

Dr. Kent engaged with nearly 50 postgraduate students and faculty members, discussing strategies for research publishing and entrepreneurship. He noted that such technologies are essential pathways for ensuring agricultural sustainability and productivity on a global scale.

Dr. Manjeet Singh, Dean of the College, said that digital innovations are the "need of the hour" for the agricultural sector. He also highlighted successful global collaborations, citing Dr. Harpreet Kaur, who recently completed her Ph.D. under Dr. Kent's supervision at UNB.
