Chandigarh, February 12: In line with its commitment to the welfare of the weaker sections of the society, the Captain Amarinder Singh government has released Rs.72.60 crores towards the clearance of pending grants of the Aashirwad Scheme and SC Scholarship amount. According to an official spokesperson, of Rs 72.60 crore, an amount of Rs.54.52 crore has been released on account of Aashirwad Scheme, for around 26,000 beneficiaries across the state.

With the release of this outstanding payment related to period from June to December 2018, the entire state liability on this count stands cleared, with no pendency as on date. Further, the Department has also released funds to the tune of Rs. 18.08 crore on account of pending SC students scholarship. The Chief Minister had directed the Finance Department to clear all pending dues of these government schemes to beneficiaries across the state to mitigate their hardships.

Expressing satisfaction over the improved fiscal position, the Chief Minister has asked all the departments to intensify their efforts to promote fiscal discipline and improve economic management to further augment the pace of overall growth and development. The Chief Minister said that with the timely release of payments, the pace of overall development works and welfare schemes had picked up momentum, showing signs of a healthy economy, the spokesperson added.
