Aman Arora vs Partap Singh Bajwa in Punjab Vidhan Sabha Latest News Today:The Punjab Vidhan Sabha on Friday turned into a battleground of words as Cabinet Minister Aman Arora launched a scathing attack on Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa during a heated debate over the state government's resolution against the deployment of CISF at the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB).
The controversy erupted after Bajwa made a sarcastic remark, saying, “They (AAP leaders) have made this Assembly a stage of drama.” The comment instantly drew backlash from the ruling benches, with Aman Arora urging Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan to take serious note and initiate a privilege motion against Bajwa for insulting the dignity of the House.
“Are the elected MLAs artists or public representatives? This is not a theatre,” Arora fired back. “Every MLA sitting here is chosen by the people of Punjab. Calling this House a ‘stage’ is an insult to the entire democratic process. I request the Speaker to take strict action.”
The argument further intensified when Bajwa questioned the state government’s demand to remove CISF from BBMB, asking why the force wasn’t removed from outside the Punjab Secretariat in Chandigarh as well.
Arora responded sharply, clarifying, “The Punjab Secretariat is located in Chandigarh, a Union Territory. The CISF presence there is under the Centre’s jurisdiction. Our objection is specific to BBMB, which is located in Punjab and has strategic importance.”
Turning the spotlight back on the recent FIR filed against him and Finance Minister Harpal Cheema in Chandigarh, Arora accused Bajwa of using his alleged proximity to the BJP to orchestrate the case. “Bajwa and ‘Bhajpa’ (BJP) even sound alike — and they stay in the same complex, just on different floors,” Arora said, drawing chuckles from some AAP MLAs.
“Earlier, it was said that cyber crime hardly files FIRs so quickly. But this one was registered with lightning speed. What was special about it? It shows Bajwa’s deep connections with the BJP. File 10 more FIRs if you want — we’re not afraid,” he added defiantly.
The fiery exchange underscores the deepening political divide in the Assembly, as the extended session — meant to address key governance and federal issues — increasingly becomes a stage for personal attacks and party rivalries.
With the BBMB-CISF issue escalating into a flashpoint between Punjab and the Centre, the state legislature appears braced for more fireworks in the days ahead.
