Sidhu Moosewala: Remembering Punjabi Icon on His Birthday

His rise in the music industry was meteoric.

Sidhu Moosewala Birthday News: Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, known globally as Sidhu Moosewala, was born in the village of Moosa in the Mansa district of Punjab, India, to a Jatt Sikh family. From an early age, Moosewala showed a deep passion for music, influenced by hip-hop icons like Tupac. He started listening to hip-hop in the sixth grade and received formal music training from Harvinder Bittu in Ludhiana.

Moosewala pursued electrical engineering at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College in Ludhiana, graduating in 2016. Post-graduation, he moved to Brampton, Ontario, Canada, for further studies at Humber College. It was during this period that he released his first song, "G Wagon," in 2017. Later that year, his breakthrough single "So High", a gangster rap produced by Byg Byrd, catapulted him to fame, earning him the Best Lyricist award at the Brit Asia TV Music Awards.

His rise in the music industry was meteoric. In 2018, he began performing live shows across India and Canada, and released popular singles like "Issa Jatt" and "Just Listen." Moosewala established his independence in the industry with the diss track "Warning Shots" and subsequently released the hit "Legend" under his own record label, winning the Brit Asia TV Kuflink Best Track of the Year Award in 2019. Spotify listed him among the most popular artists in Punjab.

Expanding his repertoire, Moosewala ventured into Punjabi cinema, debuting with "Yes I Am Student" under his production company, Jatt Life Studios. He also announced several other film projects, including "Moosa Jatt" and "Jattan Da Munda Gaun Lagya."

Despite his success, Moosewala faced controversies, including charges of promoting gun culture. He was an active political figure, campaigning for his mother, Charan Kaur, and joining the Indian National Congress in 2021 to contest the Punjab Legislative Assembly election.

Tragically, Sidhu Moosewala's life was cut short on 29 May 2022, when he was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Jawaharke village, Mansa, at the age of 28. It was Lawrence Bishnoi's gang member Goldy Brar who claimed responsibility for the murder.

On what would have been his birthday, fans remember Sidhu Moosewala not just for his music and films but also for his indomitable spirit and contribution to Punjabi culture. Moosewala's Birthday serves as a reminder of his contributions to music, film, and his community, leaving an indelible marl on the hearts of millions
