Chandigarh, (Niel Bhalinder Singh)The Special Judge, CBI Cases, UT, Chandigarh has today sentenced Shri Desh Raj, IPS, then SP (City), UT, Chandigarh to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.One Lakh. CBI had registered the case on 18.10.2012 u/s 7 of PC Act, 1988 against Shri Desh Raj, IPS, SP (City), UT, Chandigarh on a complaint of then Inspector posted as SHO, Police Station - Sector 26, Chandigarh.

It was alleged that the accused had demanded Rs.5 lakh as illegal gratification from the complainant for showing favour in an enquiry against him. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.One Lakh as 1st Instalment. A chargesheet was filed on 11.07.2013 in the court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, UT, Chandigarh. The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
