Farmer's Death by Shotgun Sparks Investigation Beyond Police Jurisdiction
Shubhkaran Singh Death Cause Latest News Update: The death of farmer Shubhkaran Singh at the Khanuri border during the farmers' movement has raised significant questions after the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report revealed crucial details. According to the report submitted to the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Shubhkaran Singh was fatally shot by a shotgun, a weapon not possessed by the police or security forces stationed at the border.
The FSL findings have prompted the High Court to order further investigation into who fired the fatal shot. The court suggested reviewing video footage from the day of the incident to identify the individual responsible for the shooting.
Reacting to the report, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal expressed disbelief, questioning why farmers would possess firearms to harm their own. He criticized the investigation conducted by the Haryana Police, advocating instead for an inquiry led by a retired judge of the High Court to ensure impartiality and justice.
The incident occurred on February 21 at the Khanuri border, where Shubhkaran Singh and fellow farmers were attempting to march towards Delhi. Despite being stopped and confronted with tear gas and gunfire by Haryana government authorities, the farmers ceased their advance. However, the situation escalated, leading to Shubhkaran Singh being struck fatally in the head just steps away from the Haryana border.
The tragic death has intensified calls for accountability and transparency in the investigation, with stakeholders seeking to uncover the circumstances surrounding Shubhkaran Singh's untimely demise.
