Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Begins Investment Outreach in South Korea, Engages Top Firms
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann has begun his South Korea visit for his international investment-outreach mission immediately after completing his Japan visit.
Mann held a detailed briefing with the Indian Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Gourangalal Das, in Seoul. According to sources in the Punjab government, Mann highlighted the state’s vision to boost economic and technological collaboration with South Korea. The aim is to boost high-potential sectors such as food processing, agri-tech, renewable energy, manufacturing, defence, aerospace, and urban infrastructure.
Mann emphasised that Punjab is an attractive destination for global investment due to its industrial ecosystem, progressive policies, and strategic geographical location. According to government officials, these factors make Punjab a gateway to North India for international firms.
According to the Punjab Department of Industries, the Chief Minister’s delegation has scheduled high-level meetings with major Korean companies, including Daewoo ENC, GS ENC, and Nongshim, to explore opportunities in construction engineering, infrastructure development, and advanced food processing.
The itinerary includes a roundtable on the “Ease of Doing Business in Punjab” that involves leading legal firms, financial investors, and business associations. Officials noted that the session is focused on highlighting Punjab’s governance reforms, transparent regulatory regime, and investor-friendly facilitation framework.
Mann will also visit Pangyo Techno Valley, South Korea’s premier innovation and technology cluster. Government sources said this visit will allow Punjab officials to examine global best practices in research and development, startup ecosystems, and high-tech industrial development, with a view to adapting relevant models back home.
The Chief Minister is going to meet representatives from the Korea Defence Industry Association (KDIA) to explore collaborations in defence manufacturing, aerospace technologies, and other industrial capabilities for Punjab.
Mann addressed the Punjabi diaspora in Seoul and urged expatriates to act as “brand ambassadors” for the state and help persuade Korean firms to invest in Punjab. He highlighted recent reforms, including the FastTrack Punjab single-window system offering 173 services, auto-deemed approvals, PAN-based business identifiers, and amendments to the Punjab Right to Business Act, which collectively ensure time-bound in-principle approvals.
Punjab government officials said the ongoing outreach aims at attracting technology-driven investments and strengthening global business partnerships to reinforce the state’s reputation as a business-friendly destination.
